Kumarbi

Back to shelf
Living Hurrian grimoire portrait of the elder god Kumarbi in a pointed divine cap and layered dark mantle, without Kronos sickle, Saturn imagery, or borrowed Mesopotamian symbols.

Kumarbi is a Hurrian god central to the Hittite-language Song of Going Forth and the succession narratives that culminate in conflict with Teshub. Yazilikaya Relief 40 is identified as Kumarbi in the specialist pantheon table, but the portrait avoids Greek Kronos and Mesopotamian Enlil or Dagan attributes.
