Sun Goddess of Arinna

Back to shelf
Living Hittite grimoire portrait of the Sun Goddess of Arinna in a long gold-brown robe and plain round cap, lit like an earthen torch without a generic solar halo or Hebat imagery.

The Sun Goddess of Arinna is the Hittite state goddess of Arinna, addressed as Lady of Hatti and Queen of Heaven and Earth and closely tied to royal authority. Despite the solar title, current scholarship describes a predominantly chthonic character; the image therefore avoids generic radiant-sun conventions.
